Locksmith Walliston: Get Immediate Help When You Need It Most
Rekeying answers the question of who has a working key today. Key control answers the harder question: who can make another one tomorrow. For most Walliston homes a standard rekey is plenty, but where copies matter — a shared building, a business, a property with staff coming and going — it is worth understanding the difference.
The practical distinctions:
- A standard key can be copied at any key-cutting counter
- Stamping a key ‘do not duplicate’ carries no legal force at all
- Restricted systems use protected keyways and controlled key blanks
- Copies of restricted keys are issued only against a signed authority
- Restricted systems cost more up front and repay it in accountability
We are happy to talk through whether that is overkill for your situation. For a family home in Walliston it usually is. For a rental portfolio, a strata common door or business premises, it often is not.
Call us and we will help you work out which one you actually need.

Local Locksmithing in Walliston
Sitting roughly 20 km east of the Perth CBD in the Perth Hills, Walliston has the mix of older and newer properties that makes rekeying more useful than replacing. The landscape is the Darling Scarp, where jarrah and marri bush, gullies and larger treed blocks replace the flat coastal plain.
Typical rekeying work on homes and premises in Walliston:
- Long driveways and gates that need a key kept in more than one vehicle
- Properties where trades have had open access during building work
- Older hardware on doors that have moved with the timber over the years
- Rentals being rekeyed between one tenancy and the next
- Security screen doors on a different key to the door behind them
- Garage side doors and side gates left on whatever key came with the house
Tenants in Western Australia who are affected by family and domestic violence can change locks without prior permission, at their own cost, and must give the landlord a copy of the new key within seven days unless the landlord is the alleged perpetrator. Consumer Protection’s Safe Tenancy WA information sets out how this works — worth reading first if it applies to you.
Our locksmiths cover the surrounding area too — Bickley, Carmel, Kalamunda, Piesse Brook and Hacketts Gully among them. Get in touch and we will confirm when we can get to you.
